The territory of Załuski gmina, which covers nearly 112 square kilometres is populated by 5700 people. This is equivalent to some 50 people per square kilometre. This indicator shows that our territories are relatively lowly populated.

More than 9400 ha of the land belong to farms. Out of this over 8600 ha are cultivated agricultural lands (more than 90%). Forests cover roughly 830 ha.

The overwhelming majority of inhabitants – over 2100 – work on their own account. Essentially these are farm owners. Nearly 1500 gmina inhabitants get income from hired employment (administration, teachers, workmen etc.). Another 1400 receive retirement pensions or annuities. There are 360 unemployed.
There are approximately 250 business entities registered in gmina.

The greatest proportion of gmina dwellers are of working age – over 2400 (more than 42%). It is worth mentioning that there are 200 persons between 80 and 89 years old living here. Inhabitants of 90 and over make 20. It may signify a longevity-favourable climate.
Most of the people living here are descendants of families, connected with this region from long ago.

Production of soft fruits, especially of strawberries and raspberries, is a leading specialisation of the local agriculture already for dozens of years.
